"Tricky pictures with pressed flowers"
by Marie-Pierre Martin
Marie-Pierre Martin, A French pressed flower artist came to Japan and held workshops.
The theme was "Tricky pictures with pressed flowers". Students created a 28cm x 18cm picture of a smiling face, which becomes a crying face by putting it upside down. Martin had made a textbook including 1000 designs of facial parts. All the students chose favorite designs from the textbook and created a different face. A book "My Flower Life No.9" published by Nihon Vogue Co., Ltd., features Martin on page 51.
Her daughter, Agnes worked as an interpreter and assistant in the workshops. She speaks Japanese very well as she has studied in Japan. Agnes will be in Japan until June, 2002. During her stay, she helps the secretariat of IPFAS and will act as an instructor on behalf of her mother.
From one of the students, Mayumi Yoshizawa:
"I am surprised at the tricky picture, which makes another design just by turning the direction. The textbook has so many various designs and it helped me to create a more charming and pleasant design than I had expected. The workshop was done in a relaxed atmosphere."
