World Pressed Flower Information

The winners were selected of the first contest of the exhibition of Pressed Flower Art "Creation"
The judge of the first contest of the Pressed Flower art, co-produced by IPFAS, was held on December 17, 2003, in Atsugi city, Kanagawa Prefecture. Ms. Katsumi Nakao, Japan, claims the first grand prix. The winners had been shown at Yokohama Sogo Museum through March 4 _ 29, 2004. The memorable first contest was participated by 1,470 entries of 3,352 artists in 14 countries and regions, such as Australia, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Nepal, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovenia, Taiwan, England, Ukraine, and USA. Two judges, Mr. Toshiyuki Sugino, Pressed Flower artist, and Mr. Nobuo Sugino, President of IPFAS, selected 110 entries as better ones by photo at first. Then, at the second selection, 82 entries were selected as prize winners; one entry was selected as Grand Prix, one as Sub-grand prix, 10 as exhibition awards, 20 as special winner, and 50 as winner. Please enjoy the excellent works on our web site!

Pressed Flower Artists around the World

The 2nd
"Japan 2001 International Pressed Flower Artwork Competition"
Gold Prize Award
Ms. Hiroko Kawamura (Japan)

Profile
She began pressing flowers in autumn 1995 as a result of her strong interest to keep wedding bouquets in pressed condition. In Okazaki City, Aichi Pref., she has organized the Museka Flower School, where students enjoy learning pressed flowers, flower arrangements, and calligraphy, along with an opportunity to join its annual competition.
Despite of her little participation in other past competitions, she was awarded the Gold Prize in "Japan 2001 International Pressed Flower Artwork Competition" for her exceptional quality of artwork. She shows her outstanding talent in abstract works through natural expression of plants : their colors, shapes, and forms.

"Life"
Message from Ms. Hiroko Kawamura
It has been ten years since I began to work with flowers. They have always encouraged me, and this thought on flowers has grown stronger as I spend more time in this field. Although I have little chance to see you, members, I can feel you closer through pressed flower works, as friends who love flowers.
